Everyone in Korea, from young to old and from business executives to elementary school students, seems to carry around cell phones these days.
This craze has gotten so extreme that there are cell phones stores lined up side by side selling the same phones everywhere you go.
You may ask, how did this all begin? Well, you can say that the cell phone revolution begin with the use of pagers.
People were able to keep track of each other with pagers, and as technology soared, people started seeing the convenience of cell phones.
They embraced this technology, and they can’t seem to let it go.
There are even people who no longer have landlines for their homes, choosing to have only cell phones as a means of communication.
Furthermore, downloading mini-movies and music videos to cell phones have become the trend with newer styles, making it convenient and entertaining at the same time.
And here are some opinions about this situation:

Opinion 1 cell phones creates problems!!
Cell phones are convenient, but they also create a lot of inconveniences. Some people don’t know where to draw the line between convenience and discourtesy in public places.
For example, when people start playing games on their phones without turning off the sound, it disrupts others even some other people don’t want to listen to loud beeping and blasting sounds on my way home from a hard days work. What’s more, some people use their phones in public areas, and you can hear very private and personal conversations, even they are arguing about their very private family matters through the phone.
One day, I was on the subway, and an obnoxious teenager using really profane language on this cell. There were a lot of small children around. I actually saw a little boy staring at this teenager. So all these are pure rudeness in public places and it’s unacceptable.

Opinion 2 cell phones are really useful!!
Cell phones are not only convenient, but they’re also very entertaining.
I use my phone to download games and music videos. You have to keep up with the latest and learn to use all the features of your phone. My phone cans event take pictures and mini-videos. I use these features all the time. When I was try to buy apartments, my husband was too busy to come with me. So I took pictures and videos of the apartments that I saw. Not only is that, being able to check the news and weather through your phone really useful.

1. Which opinion do you agree with? And Why?

well, both opinions are right. so this is not the problem of agreement and disagreement. that's the both side of facilities of civilization. even though those tools are convevient, we have the duty to use them in right way. if those uses are lacked of balance, then there occur problems.

2. If you own a cell phone, what kind of features do you have on your cell phone? Do you use those spectacular features?

no, I know the special features of my cell phone but I hardly use them. I only use my phone when calling, sending text message, alarming. actually my cell phone has many features but the quality of those features are inferior to the ready-made product aimed only one specialized function like digital camera, mp3 player and so on.

3. How much of your cell phone usage is on activities unrelated to speaking to another person?

as for me, sometimes I send text message to the friend and let the alarm set to get up early in the morning. that's all.

4. Do you think Koreans have become too dependent on cell phones? Are there other factors that intensify addiction to cell phone usage in Korea?

yes I do. too much dependent. I think that one of those factors is solitude of modern human. every countries are getting closed and so are the world people, so are Koreans. but they are getting more solitude of themselves. and I think they including I try to fill up the gap among people by usage of cell phone in vain. think about this. when you are free of work and there's nothing to do, many people stretch out their hand to the cell phone ten to one.

5. What alternatives (other) ways we have to keep in touch with each other? Are they as efficient as cell phones?

there would be e-mail, letters and telepathy. as for efficiency, telepathy will be the best but that's very hard ability to use for ordinary person, second best will be the cell phone. to conclude, cell phone is most efficient of that means except for telepathy.

6. Do students (elementary, middle, high school) really need cell phones? If your 12 years old girl or boy wanted to get a cell phone, and she/he is keep asking to you to buy it, what would you do?

well, very hard question to answer but, I guess if I were a father of 12 old students I'll have to buy them the cell phone within the special limits. first, they'll have to use it only within time limits. e.g. 15 hours a month. second, I'll buy them ordinary phone which has no features. you know, actually cell phone has the APRS feature. so in case some problem happens to them, I'll have to find them using APRS function of cell phone. I don't know for sure whether GPS loaded cell phone is introduced to the public but someday we'll be able to buy GPS cell phone more detail in position reporting than ordinary phone that just can find the position of based antenna received final signal of cell phone before the cell phone turned off.
